Housing Spokesman

Member of Planning Committee and Employment Committee.

Jim Fleming is a local man, Portsmouth born'n'bred with deep family roots here and has lived at Stride Avenue, in Baffins, for many years.

He represented Hampshire at squash, whilst playing at Alexandra Park and attended Corpus Christi School in North End and is now a governor at City Boys School.

Jim joined the Conservatives only relatively recently after getting fed up shouting at the TV and throwing the newspapers down in disgust, so he decided to do something about it.

Jim was at the fore of the campaign to Save Copnor Fire Station and was the creator of the biggest online protest group for the cause, hosted on Facebook. Jim also set up the petition to the Prime Minister.

Only last year, Jim was successful with his attempts to obtain funding to replace the roof of the building occupied by Baffins Pond Association and led a delegation of residents opposed to the East Shore development. Jim also gave an empassioned deputation to the Traffic & Transport committee over their original decision to abolish Travel Tokens for pensioners.

Jim was elected to Portsmouth City Council in May 2008.
