Copnor By-Election Called

Following the sad death of long-serving and well-respected Councillor Alan Langford, a by-election has been called in Copnor Ward for Thursday 7th February 2008.

Portsmouth Conservatives, including popular Copnor Councillor Mike Park, believe that this by-election is a waste of taxpayers money, the cost was recently estimated at £19,000!

Portsmouth Conservatives recently proposed that taxpayers money should be used to help save Copnor Fire Station, but were voted down by the ruling Lib/Lab coalition, due to lack of funds; yet they saw fit to squander thousands by calling this by-election, which could easily have waited until all the other Local Elections in 3 months time.

Jim Fleming has been selected as the Conservative candidate for this by-election.
