Children from Buckland are given a special day out

Sunday, 28 August, 2011

Portsmouth North Conservative Activist Audrey Arnell has been helping some underprivileged children have a special day out at the zoo.

Audrey, who lives in Nelson ward, organised the trip for some of the youngsters from Grafton Street in Buckland, to have a day out at Marwell Wildlife Park near Winchester.

She said: “a lot of these children come from underprivileged backgrounds and don’t get the same opportunities as others. So this is a way of getting them out to places they have never been.”

The success of the trip has led Audrey to organise a free trip to a pantomime at Christmas.

Audrey added, “This youngster are great and it feels like I have a family of 200 children. It is a great honour that they all call me Auntie as they are such fantastic kids. ”
