Portsmouth North Conservative Association has started the process of selecting its candidates for next year's local elections.

Seven candidates have put themselves forward to be adopted by the association, they will now undergo an interview by a selection panel before being considered by the wards.

Portsmouth North covers the wards of Baffins, Copnor, Nelson, Hilsea, Paulsgrove and, Drayton and Farlington.

Cllr Donna Jones, Chairman for Portsmouth North Conservative Association, said; "We have some real strong candidates who believe passionately in representing the needs of residents in Portsmouth. Every week we see money being wasted by the current controlling party of Portsmouth City Council, we want to be able to turn the fortunes of Portsmouth, to make it the great city it deserves to be."

The Portsmouth North Conservatives are now encouraging residents to support their campaign, by become a member of the association, and help them win control of the council next year.
